Spotlight on Markeda Slatton

Sister Markeda Slatton is a wonderful daughter, mother, friend, and an absolute gem. She is a woman of excellence who has graciously served the Mountain View Church of God in Christ (MVC) ministry as the church secretary for 21 years. She took the right hand of fellowship just a year prior, so as you can see, she grabbed her seat but didn’t sit too long. She is an essential part of why MVC’s information highway flows smoothly as she is the key person handling and upkeeping members’ information in the database. She sends welcome letters, birthday cards, miss you cards, encouragement cards, and anything else to uphold our motto: “We are large enough to receive you and small enough to appreciate you.”

Sister Slatton is a tremendous help to the ministry and goes above and beyond in all duties. Whatever Sis. Slatton finds for her hands to do, she does it as unto the Lord. She has worked behind the scenes with Marriage Enrichment, Youth, Reflections, Sick & Shut-in, and Women’s Ministries. Sis. Slatton has a huge heart, and whether she is called upon or sees that help is needed, she is always willing to lend a helping hand.

Sister Slatton has such a creative mind, and it gleams with beauty through church programs, event flyers, gifts, and decorations for all ministries that she assists. First Peter 4:10 (NIV) says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” That is Sis. Markeda Slatton.

To her, what she does is a small contribution, but to her MVC family, her sacrifice is tremendous. We see and appreciate all the work she does, but most importantly the Lord sees her many hours of labor to support the MVC Ministry. We at MVC are grateful beyond measure to have such a precious jewel in our midst.
