Spotlight on Armenta Simpson
Spotlight Armenta Simpson
Armenta Simpson was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, in the projects as the firstborn of three. She describes her mother as a woman of wisdom who cared for her children and sick neighbors. Her mother had 14 siblings, so there was lots of family to love.
She has been married for 52 years. Living in the same building, she knew her husband since she was 13. My husband married me and joined the Air Force while I was pregnant with our son; we had a daughter 4 years later. While stationed in Japan, I worked in a bank with the Japanese people, who loved me dearly. While working at the bank, I had an encounter with God in 1986; of course, the devil and his lies also showed up. At a gospel service on base, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, was water baptized, and joined the choir.
We returned to the US in 1987 and were stationed at Williams AFB. Although my husband di not get saved, the Bible let me know the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife. God filled me with the baptism of the Holy Ghost with speaking in tongues. What an experience!
In 1989, God led me to Holy Temple under the leadership of Pastor Jerry D. Boyd, an awesome man of God. He called her Sister Shouter because she always praised the Lord. She says, “I was different; even pregnant with child, I still praised God.
She has served as president usher, Prayer and Bible Band, and as first deaconess, prepared communion. In addition, she visited hospitals, nursing homes, and group homes. A prayer warrior, she leads weekly morning prayer at the church. She is often so drunk in the Spirit that other saints have to bring her home.
Joy overflows in the Holy Spirit, so much that people watching tell her they get joy just watching—some have been delivered through that praise. In everything, she gives all glory to God.
