Sister Nora Mitchell
Sister Mitchell was born in Texas and moved to Eloy, Arizona, as a young girl. She moved to Phoenix in 1968.
Sister Nora Mitchell has been a faithful member of Higher Ground Church of God in Christ for 37 years. She has served in the Hospitality Department and Sunday School as a secretary. She was also a member of the choir. She was known for working with her grandchildren teaching them the ways of the Lord and to sing songs of Zion.
Sister Mitchell worked at Maricopa County Medical Center, now known as Valley Wise, in Medical Records and Radiology for over 15 years.
Sister Mitchell has been married to the love of her life (Governor Mitchell) for 56 years. She is a wonderful wife and the mother of 3 children, 14 grandchildren, and 2-great grandchildren.
What makes Sister Mitchell special is that she loves thinking of others more than herself. She shared once that her mother told her that a stranger is a friend that you never met. You can tell she took what her mother said to heart because everywhere she goes, she lets her light shine. Consequently, many people are drawn to her. Sister Mitchell enjoys bringing family and friends together. In addition, she loves to bake and decorate her home.
Her favorite scripture is Psalm 27 which lets us know that God offers help for today and hope for the future. Unwavering confidence in God is our antidote for fear and loneliness.
