Spotlight Libby Gontarz
Missionary Libby Gontarz lives near the Superstition Mountains just outside Apache Junction with her husband of 32 years, Bob Gontarz. Libby never bore children but was blessed to marry a man with sons 8 and 10 years old. God also blessed her with a “chosen” daughter, son-in-law, and grandson with whom she is close.
Libby was raised in a Southern Baptist preacher’s home but did not come to a personal saving faith until she was 19. Having a lot of “head knowledge” without spiritual maturity, she floundered in sin for years until surrendering completely to God. She attended several churches, most recently the Assemblies of God, before being invited to a church anniversary at Holy Temple in 2012. Recognizing the Holy Spirit at that meeting, she and Bob knew they had come home. Thank God for being grafted in to a wonderful family in COGIC! Libby Gontarz completed her licensing class in 2018 and is a licensed COGIC missionary. She serves at Holy Temple.
Professionally, Libby taught public school and provided curriculum assessment and training across the US. She has written elementary and high school instructional and assessment materials used internationally in public classrooms, private Christian schools, and homeschools. Since 2008, she has worked as an editor, helping Christian nonfiction and memoir writers bring their dreams into focus. Libby works with individuals and several publishers.
