Spotlight Lyanna Shelby
Lyanna Shelby has been a member of Prayer Assembly Church of God in Christ all her life. Born into a family who were committed to the things of God, she was shown by example what it means to live a holy and separated life for Christ. She was always actively involved in the children and youth ministries of Prayer Assembly; those included Kidz in Praise, Praise Dancer, and serving as a Junior Usher. As she moved into her teen years, she sang in the Youth Choir as well as the Youth Praise and Worship team. As an adult she continues to sing with the Praise and Worship team. She has a family that is musically inclined and attributes her love for singing specifically to her grandmother.
Lyanna admits her teen years came with challenges. She experienced depression, anxiety, toxic behaviors, and feelings of being an outsider. She even had a time of feeling suicidal. Her testimony today is that God is a deliverer and has caused her to triumph. During the pandemic, because there were no distractions, her spiritual senses were developed, and she became more sold out for Christ and is on fire for God.
Not only is Lyanna involved in her local church but she is also actively involved in the Regional Youth Department. She is the social media manager for the SWR Youth Department. Additionally, Lyanna is involved in the International Youth Department. She works with the social media team, is a content creator, and manages the pop-up shop at various conventions selling IYD merchandise.
Lyanna’s professional career started at Amazon, where she was a logistical specialist and later promoted to Amazon Web Services Recruiting Coordinator. Currently, she is a promotions assistant for K-Love/Air1, promoting the brand of the radio station. Lyanna is most excited about her next career move. She was just hired as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines and will take to the skies in just a few weeks.
Lyanna knows God has many other open doors for her, and when they open, she will walk in.
